The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
There have been several films that have had an impact on my life. If I had to pick one film that changed my life it has to go The Shawshank Redemption. This film highlighted the resilience of the human spirit. It was one of the first times I found myself thinking about the criminal justice system. How prisons ( especially in the United States) do not try to rehabilitate prisoners. It is a system that is banking on them failing on the outside. Leading some former inmates to either take their own lives or found themselves resorting back to crime. A powerful film with the most inspiring quotes.
